1. Purpose and overview

British standard BS1377 and Swedish SS027109 both stipulate that the surface vibration compactor method should be used for high permeability soil. The surface vibrator method is similar to the vibratory rolling condition, the operation is simple, and the sample does not separate during the vibratory compaction. The vibration table method is complicated to operate, and the sample is easy to separate during the vibration compaction process. Therefore, JTG40-2007 recommends the surface vibration compactor method first, and this method can also be used for coarse-grained soil large triaxial tests. Penetration test, concrete material test and base material test, etc.
