Point load strength testing is a key parameter for rock materials. It determines the point load strength of a specimen as well as the anisotropy of the strength index, i.e., the ratio of the maximum to the minimum point load strength.

This point load tester features a portable, lightweight design. The upper section incorporates a precision guidance mechanism to ensure that the upper and lower load heads remain aligned during testing. It applies load using a center point and fragments, resulting in lower rock failure pressures compared to conventional presses. Furthermore, specimens do not need to be machined into regular shapes, making it suitable for on-site testing and facilitating the measurement of low-strength rocks. Loading is performed using a hydraulic jack, with a dual-dial pressure gauge displaying the test force (digital point load testers utilize precision pressure sensors and force measurement instruments for readings), enabling rapid determination of rock tensile and compressive strengths. This is a simple, scientific testing tool offering the advantages of convenience, economy, and speed, suitable for rock mechanical property testing in coal mining, geology, hydraulic engineering, transportation, and construction projects.
